With the start of the new year I was reflecting on what I had read last year and how many books I had read, and what I was going to be reading soon. If you see my home office (left), you will now know that I have tons of books probably too many to read in my lifetime but I get so excited purchasing and thinking about new books. My mom even laughs with me because my excitement can cause my stomach to hurt when I go in a library and have so many choices before me. Two books at the top of my reading list this year are Watership Down and La Lacuna that my best friend gave me. I have been promising that I will finish them and now is the time.
So I found it interesting that I was asked to join this challenge. It came at the perfect time because I was thinking if I read one book a week then I could read 52 for the year, that is not bad but I do not think I have ever truly counted the number of books I have read, so I am doing it this year and lets see what happens. I hope you will join me! You can sign up for the challenge here or click on the picture to the bottom right of my blog posts. So start your page turning!
Wow! I'm not a fast reader. I'm not sure I could do 100 books in a year. I did read The Distant Hours last week and now I'm far into another book which I should finish this week. But the semester starts next week and time gets away from me. I hope you post what you're reading.
ReplyDeleteI've solved my clutter problem with leisure reading books. I now do all my leisure reading on my nook. It really helped the book stacks.
Janet, I have lots of books on my Kindle but I still like to hold books and feel them when I read. I know it is really hard once you start teaching. I can understand. If you keep the pace of two books at week you would make the goal but I go through periods when I do not want to read. Drives me crazy. Thankfully right now I am wanting to read.
ReplyDeleteI got a Kindle for Christmas so I am going to join your challenge. I did not do a great job with reading in 2010 so I have a lot to do to catch up! As a seventh grade teacher, I use to read to my students on a regular basis.
ReplyDeleteJoan, you will smile because my best friend will read to me on the phone sometimes from a book. I love it. Glad you are on board.
ReplyDeleteIt was a good thing that your parents took you to the library when you were a kid
ReplyDeleteThat many books in a year? I can only get through one heavy duty book in a month. I read about two chapters a night and I am out like a light. Right now I am reading Hell's Corner by David Baldacci. Not one of my favorite books of his but I am determined to finish it.
ReplyDeleteI guess I have a lot of reading (on the phone to you) to make sure you finish that challenge! I did not know that I had signed up for this challenge via proxy. LMAO. You (we) can do it.
